Bulb of Hope, 2026

This monochrome cross-stitch design holds a different perceptual experience when observed from afar compared to when it is studied up close. It is designed in a way to evoke a distant feeling from the picture plane through negative space and the application of textile media. It serves the purpose of identifying our growing disconnect from physical landscapes to the digital illusions we see on screen. The title references Hope Park Creative Campus where the photograph of the tulip was taken.

This piece was shown in Saan1, Manchester in April 2026 as part of LUMINARIUM: a Black and White Art Show challenging the notion of neutrality in art and curatorial practice.
